Violetta "Tini" Castillo is the titular protagonist of Disney Channel's original TV series Violetta. She is a beautiful, smart and passionate young girl, but is sometimes held back by her very overprotective father, Germán. She is musically gifted and has a wonderful and unique voice that she inherited from her mother, who died in a car crash when she was 5 years old. She is the girlfriend of Leon Vargas.

When Violetta first returns to Buenos Aires, she discovers her passion for music and begins to attend Studio 21 (now On Beat Studio) despite her father's disapproval. It is there that she makes her first friends and learns more about herself. She meets two very different boys, Tomás and Leon, who fall in love with her. She becomes entangled in a love triangle with them and has trouble deciding who she truly loves.

Through her journey, Violetta realizes that music means everything to her and that singing is what she wants to do with her life. Knowing that her father would not accept her, she hides everything from him out of fear which only further complicates their relationship. By the end of the first season, she learns to be honest and true to herself, gaining her father's approval.

Violetta is portrayed by Martina Stoessel.

Personality []

Violetta is a very bright, talented and kind girl. When she first attends Studio 21, she is shy and reserved. However, she soon discovers her true passion and talent for music which allows her to gain more confidence. Through this, she becomes closer to her father and friends. It is with her kind heart that she is always determined to do what's best for the people she cares about.

Character History []

Early Years

Violetta was born on June 26, 1995 as the daughter of Herman Castillo and María Saramego. Her mother died when she was 4 years old in a bus accident while on tour. Due to the pain of her mother's loss, her father decided to move away from Argentina. She travelled a lot due to her father's work which is why she often describes how her life is inside and outside of airports. She lived in Madrid for most of her childhood, but is unfamiliar with the city as her father did not allow her to leave home. She had a tutor instead of going to school so she never had friends.

Season 1[]

Part 1[]

At the beginning of the series, Violetta is a shy girl who has not yet properly lived her life. She doesn't have any friends, has never been to school, fallen in love, nor discovered her passion for music. At the end of the first episode, Violetta is walking in the rain and slips, but a boy, Tomas, catches her just in time. They immediately fall for each other. In episode 5, Violetta is walking across the street and is about to collide into a group of skaters when a handsome boy, Leon, comes in and saves her just in time. A little later, Violetta follows Tomás and meets Francesca, a girl who soon becomes her close friend. After that, she starts taking piano lessons in the studio which results in her trying out for the studio as she discovers how much her mom loved music. She passes the audition and joins the studio as a student. Shortly after she enters the studio, the students are given an assignment to sing a duet with someone. She and Leon are paired up and assigned to sing More Tears. In episode 32, Tomas asks and Violetta to go out and she says yes, but Ludmila ruins their plans. This results in Violetta becoming closer to Leon. Violetta and León end up kissing which changes everything for Violetta and she begins to develop feelings for him. In episodes 39 and 40, Violetta has to make a decision on whether to attend the program that the studio is hosting or her father's wedding to Jade. She ends up going on the show where she plays the lead role.

Part 2[]

Gregorio becomes the director of the studio and decides to have the studio participate in a reality show in which Violetta becomes involved in. She has some problems due to a new boy named Federico, who joins the studio and lives at her house. He vows not to tell her father about her attending the studio and the two become friends. Violetta wins second place in the competition. Violetta finds out that her tutor and teacher at the studio, Angie, is her aunt. She also meets her maternal grandmother for the first time. Violetta continues to hide the fact that she is attending the studio from her father, but when he finds out, he prevents her from going to the studio and plans for them to move away from Buenos Aires. However, before they leave for the airport, Herman hears a tape from Angie and changes his mind. He lets Violetta participate in the end of the year show and accepts her dreams of being a singer. They have a stronger relationship as they find understanding in each other through music and love.

Season 2[]

Part 1[]

At the beginning of the second season, Violetta is waiting for Francesca at the airport. At the studio, Violetta and the others are told that the studio is now involved with YouMix. She is happy but is disappointed to realize that Leon is not present. She goes to the place where León does Motorcross to tell him the news and is almost run over, but León saves her. A few days later, León and Violetta decide to get back together and happily date for a bit. However, when a new boy in town, Diego, shows interest in Violetta, it angers Leon. Diego successfully joins the studio which causes more problems for Leon and Violetta's relationship so they decide to break up.

Part 2[]

In the second half of the second season, Violetta has her first kiss with Diego and they start dating but she still has lingering feelings for Leon. A man named Jeremiah, who is Herman in disguise, joins the studio as a teacher and piano player. Violetta starts bonding with him and they both become friends. Unbeknownst to her that she is talking to her father, she tells Jeremiah that he reminds her of her dad. She then has conflict with Leon as she accuses him of breaking the guitar she gave to Diego in order to help find his dad. After a while, she and Leon become close friends again and she discovers that Jeremiah was her father. She becomes distant from her dad and Esmerelda, an actress hired by Jade and Matias, is revealed as the person who stole Herman's money. After performing one of Gregorio's assignments, it is announced that YouMix is holding a dance competition in which viewers will decide the two couples that will perform in Spain. She is paired with Leon for the competition. They along with Francesca and Diego (the other dancing pair) win and head to Spain. In Madrid, Violetta finds out about Diego and Ludmila's plan and feels hurt and betrayed by Diego. Violetta and Leon get back together and she forgives and becomes friends again with Diego.

Violetta's birthday is during the YouMix tour and Leon organises a surprise romantic hot air balloon date and party with all their friends for her. They return home to Buenos Aires and Leon meets a girl named Gery at the motorcross track and they become friends. Violetta becomes friends with Alex, who is secretly Clement Galan, the son of a successful hotel owner who doesn't respect his son's passion for music. Alex develops a crush on Violetta and Gery on Leon which adds problems to Leon and Violetta's relationship as they become jealous of the other person. Violetta's father begins a relationship with Ludmila's mother, Priscila. She and Ludmila begin living together and are often at odds with one another as usual. Alex and Gery make a deal to break up Leon and Violetta in order to be with who they want. They are successful in breaking the two up as Leon gets jealous seeing Violetta with Alex and breaks up with her. Violetta suspects that Leon is dating Gery so she disguises herself as Roxy with Francesca as Fausta to spy on him and Gery. Leon slowly begins to develop feelings for Roxy. Unaware that Roxy is Violetta, he struggles to choose between Roxy and Violetta. He chooses Roxy and when they finally kiss, it is revealed to Leon that Roxy is actually Violetta.

Part 2[]

After discovering the truth, Leon is upset and refuses to see Violetta again. Violetta uploads a singing video to YouMix as a means to apologise to Leon but he is unable to forgive her. Gery comes up with a plan to get Leon even further away from Violetta. She cancels Leon's band's gig over the phone pretending to be Violetta. Leon becomes angry, believing that Violetta is trying to sabotage his dreams. It is then revealed that Violetta is innocent and the two become friendly again. Violetta begins writing a song while thinking about Leon. As Clement gives up his pursuit for Violetta's love, Gery remains determined to win over Leon. She creates another plan to keep them from getting back together and Clement is forced to help her as she threatens to reveal his true identity to everyone. They both steal Leon and Violetta's tablets and message the other person pretending to be them, telling them that they just want to remain friends. Leon was also writing a song thinking about Violetta. Both saddened thinking that the other does not want to get back together, they rip their respective songs in half. Even when Francesca and Diego put two halves of their songs together and insist that they are meant to be together as they were able to write a song apart, Violetta and Leon refrain from getting back together. Despite being very much in love with each other, they don't out of respect for the other person's wishes. Violetta discovers Priscila's true colors when she overhears Ludmila and Priscila arguing about how Priscila put a spider in Angie's car as a form of revenge. Violetta tells Priscila that she is going to tell her father everything so Priscila pushes Violetta from behind down some stairs. Violetta wakes up and believes Ludmila pushed her as she was the last person she spoke to before she was pushed. However, due to her newfound friendship with Ludmila, she begins to doubt her suspicions and believes Ludmila when she says that she didn't hurt her. With the help of her friends, she discovers security tapes that show Priscila pushing her down the stairs. This results in Herman breaking up with Priscila. Violetta continues to stay away from Leon and tries to be just friends with him even though she really loves him. In episode 60, the band films their CD and Violetta has a solo in it. While she is singing Carry My Heart, Leon comes in and sings with her and they kiss. Despite their kiss in episode 61, Leon and Violetta decide to stay friends. Clement confesses to Violetta and Leon of him and Gery's plan to seperate them. Violetta and Leon are happy to realise that they both want to get back together. They kiss and become a couple again.

Relationships[]

Romances[]

Leon - Boyfriend/True Love

In season one, Leon is initially interested in Violetta when he thinks that she is dating Tomas. He notices how pretty she is when he saves her from some skateboarders the first time they meet. He soon begins to develop a real romantic interest in her, putting aside his desire to be with her just to spite Tomas. Violetta finds herself turning to Leon for help and advice as he protects her from Ludmila. Leon helps Violetta to join the Studio and they become very close friends. In Angie's singing class, they are partnered together for an assignment, much to their delight. Due to complications with her relationship with Tomas, Violetta chooses to focus on what she feels for Leon rather than him. Leon takes Violetta on a date and encourages her to sing in public for the first time. He also teaches her to ride a bike as a way to cheer her up after she is upset by Tomas. Singing together draws them closer and Violetta and Leon start dating as she makes an effort to forget about Tomas. Leon gives Violetta her first kiss and all is good until Tomas starts to become close with Violetta again, creating confusion for her once again. Leon meets Violetta's family at dinner and even helps her to hide the fact that she studies at the Studio, even though Jade eventually finds out. Leon recognises that Violetta feels confused and asks her to choose between him and Tomas, and she chooses Leon as the one she loves. Despite this, Tomas's actions continue to confuse Violetta as she believes he is being dishonest about his relationship with Ludmila. An attempted kiss between the pair causes Leon to break up with Violetta. Violetta becomes very sad over their break-up and misses him dearly. However, they soon get back together as Violetta asks for his forgiveness. This happiness is short-lived as the YouMix reality show uploads a video that shows Violetta and Tomas close to each other. Leon loses his trust in Violetta once again and breaks up with her but Violetta still holds a place in his heart. Violetta still relies on Leon for consolation and strength to sing on stage. Violetta wants Leon back and the pair think of one another often but they find that there are too many obstacles that prevent them from being together. Her thoughts mainly revolve around Leon until the end of the season. They dream about the same song which shows how much she loves him and how connected they are and as much she wants Leon back, she still has some lingering feelings for Tomas which stops her from getting back with Leon. She struggles who to decide who to be with. In the end, she chooses herself and decides not to be in a relationship with either Leon nor Tomas.

In the second season when Violetta returns to Buenos Aires from vacation, she realises that she still has feelings for Leon and that he is the one she truly loves. They get back together and date for a while until Diego kisses Violetta during a song, causing them to break up. Violetta begins to date Diego and Leon with Lara. However, they are not able to stop thinking of one another. They are both jealous of each other's new relationships because they still love each other. Leon is suspicious of Diego and suspects that he and Ludmila are working together. He attempts to expose Diego to Violetta but she believes that he is just trying to ruin her relationship because he is jealous. They start to grow close again when they are paired up for a dance competition held by YouMix. They win the competition and travel to Spain for a show with Diego and Fran. Leon and Lara break up before they go to Spain. Leon discovers that his suspicions were true and that Diego and Ludmila have a plan to hurt Violetta. He records Diego's conversation with Ludmila on his phone which Violetta finds and watches. Upset by this betrayal, she cannot sing on stage but luckily Leon rescues her and they sing a beautiful duet. After the show, Leon finds Violetta to console her and the two hug. Once the group return to Buenos Aires, Leon becomes protective of Violetta and it seems that they both want to get back together. However, Violetta sees him hug Lara and thinks that they are back together. Leon, who was giving a farewell hug, is confused by Violetta's change in attitude with him, especially when she kicks him and Diego out of her house. Violetta talks to Lara and realises that she misunderstood the situation and goes to find Leon at their special place. The pair get back together and almost kiss. Leon helps Violetta, who struggles to find the joy in music and singing, by bringing her closer together with her father again in the Studio's end of year show. Leon and Violetta kiss during the last song.

In season three, Violetta and Leon are deeply in love whilst they are on tour with YouMix. Violetta gets suspicious of Leon's secret phone calls and meetings and follows him, with Fran, to find out that he has organised a hot air balloon date as her birthday surprise. The couple spend time together and realise that they truly love each other very much. Frustrated over YouMix's lack of support for the boy band, Leon rides his motorcycle to release his frustration. He gets into an accident which leaves him in a coma, causing a lot of worry for Violetta. She kisses Leon in the hospital which wakes him up and the couple are happily reunited. Leon starts to have doubts about his place in the Studio as he realises that the boy band cannot grow. Violetta tries to support him but struggles to understand his decision to leave the Studio. Distance also forms between Leon and Violetta when they each form close friendships with Gery and Alex respectively. They continue to argue over his choice to leave the Studio but reconcile when Leon agrees to help with the new tour. On tour, Leon is jealous when he hears that Alex gave Violetta songs to listen to. When the tour is cut short and everyone returns to Buenos Aires due to Antonio's death, they break up as Leon remains resolute in his decision to not come back to the studio. Violetta disguises herself as Roxy, with Fran as Fausta, to see if Leon has moved on with Gery. This plan backfires when Leon starts to fall for Roxy. Despite having feelings for Roxy, Leon knows that he still loves Violetta and supports her at her father's wedding where he tells her that his feelings are similar to when she was confused between him and Tomas. Believing that Violetta is trying to sabotage his relationship with Roxy, he chooses to be with Roxy. Violetta is upset by this and decides that she must stop pretending to be Roxy. Leon is persistent for Roxy and invites her on a final date, but when Leon kisses Roxy, he realises that it is really Violetta. Leon is angry at Violetta however, after talking to Andres, he realises that he still loves her and wants her back in his life. Violetta feels similarly for Leon but neither one of them are brave enough to confess their feelings to each other. Leon tells Violetta that they should just remain friends so they don't hurt each other. This aggravates Violetta and she writes a harsh email that Herman accidentally sends to Leon. Leon is angered by this email but after hearing the truth, Violetta and him grow close again. They want to get back together and at the band's DVD filming, Leon joins Violetta in her solo and they kiss. But after they kiss, they are too scared to ruin their relationship and decide to continue being friends. This friendship becomes deeper and they get closer together. Leon is there for Violetta after she is pushed down the stairs by Priscila and helps her uncover the truth. They almost get back together but Gery and Alex intervene and pretend to be them online to keep them apart. They keep some distance between them until the truth of Alex being Clement draws Violetta to Leon for consolation. Leon starts to suspect that Gery and Clement have been keeping him and Violetta apart and becomes jealous when he hears Clement confess his love to Violetta. Believing that the other person wants to just be friends due to Gery and Clement's scheming, they get angry and argue when the other person sends mixed messages, causing friction. But when they are picked to sing a duet for Seville, Fran shows Violetta the song that she and Leon wrote whilst they were apart, showing how connected the two are. In Seville, Leon and Violetta tour the city together and Clement finally tells the truth about his and Gery's scheming. They finally get back together and share a kiss.

Despite their on and off relationship, Violetta and Leon love each other always and are meant to be together. Violetta's first love allows her to mature and she is encouraged by him to be confident and strong enough to go after what she wants. She finds herself so in love that she is always thinking of Leon and becomes jealous of those who get close to him when they are apart from one another. Leon's love for Violetta changes him from being a selfish, mean person in the Studio under the control of Ludmila to someone who is kind and supportive of everyone. Leon is very understanding and protective of Violetta, but his love for her means he easily gets jealous of other like she does.

When she discovers the truth about him they break up.

Family[]

Germán Castillo - Father

The two are always fighting due to his excessive rules and boundaries that prevent Violetta from going to school, singing, or falling in love. Nevertheless, the feeling of love between them is mutual. Since María's death, Herman fears that Violetta will leave him one day. Refusing to believe that his daughter is growing up, Herman doesn't want her to fall in love, because that makes him realize how Violetta keeps growing up, becoming a more independent person. Violetta knew that if she told him she went to the Studio he would've gotten mad and would've stopped her from going, so she lied constantly. At the end of the first season, Herman finds out about Violetta is attending the Studio, and realizes how talented and special she is.

María Saramego - Mother

Violetta's mother, died when Violetta was 4 years old. Esther knew little about her mother before she moved to Argentina with her father, due to the constant denial of Herman on the importance of María in the life of Violetta. Violetta had always dreamed of discovering things about her, and she discovered the attic full of her things, including clothing, posters of her concerts and plays, accessories, and her diary, which shows how important it was to María and how much she loved music. Although María is not physically there with Violetta, Violetta tries to be a good person and to make her proud.

Angie Carrará - Aunt/Step-mother

Angie Carrará is Violetta's aunt and the only person at home who understands and supports her with achieving her dreams. She tells Angie everything about her life. Angie is like the mother she never had.

He even pretended to be an American businessman named Mr. Ferguson to try and help Violetta raise money for the Studio. Ramallo also encouraged Herman to give Violetta more space and permission to take piano lessons. He always prevents Herman from interfering into Violetta's life.

Enemies[]

Ludmila Ferro - Former Enemies/Step-sister/Friends

Ludmila hated Violetta from the first moment Violetta visited Studio 21. Ludmila hates her because she knows that Tomas, the guy she likes, is in love with Violetta. In addition to that, Leon, her ex-boyfriend, broke up with her and tries to win Violetta over. This makes Ludmila more jealous of Violetta as she receives all the attention. Another reason Ludmila dislikes Violetta is due to the fact that Violetta is considered the best singer at the studio. Ludmila believes that she is the best singer and that nobody can compare to her but as her spotlight becomes over-shined by Violetta, she vows to make Violetta miserable by any means so she can be on top. However, when Violetta's father marries Ludmila's mother, they are forced to live together. At first, they fight a lot because of their parent's marriage and their rivalry but soon they become close like sisters. Ludmila becomes a much nicer and more honest person thanks to the love she receives from Violetta and Herman when Priscila's real personality and mistreatment towards Ludmila is revealed. Violetta and Ludmila now support each other.

Jade LaFontaine - Enemies

Violetta has never gotten along with Jade. Jade's efforts to bond with Violetta have been half-hearted, only wanting to secure her relationship with Herman. Violetta often does not appreciate Jade's attempts to act as her mother. Jade hates Violetta, claiming she gets in the way of her and Herman's relationship. Jade even mentioned that she would send Violetta to a boarding school if she and Herman got married.
